NC Piedmont

In this area of plains and hills, you can experience the thrill of NASCAR racing, dine and dance the night away, hike, bike or rock climb surrounded by amazing fall color, root your favorite team on to victory at a professional hockey, basketball or football game, explore the wine country, shop for exquisite home furnishings in a showroom the size of a small farm, or play where the pros play on some of the world's top golf links. It is all here in the North Carolina piedmont.

Explore
  • Chapel Hill, Durham & Raleigh Area
The northeastern region of the piedmont is where you’ll find Raleigh, the state capital, Durham (yes, it is a separate city) and Chapel Hill, which make up the high tech business world of the Research Triangle. Along with many smaller historic towns, the region offers a rich variety of history, cultural arts and entertainment.
  • Charlotte & More
The southern foothills area has a bold mixture of NASCAR, scenic beauty, shopping and the chic urban arts scene of Charlotte. Here you can follow the trails of North Carolina legends from Daniel Boone to Dale Earnhardt, then dance the night away at one of the area's many bars and night clubs.
  • Charming Piedmont Towns
North Carolina’s piedmont is home to many small southern towns with fascinating stories to tell. Salisbury is loaded with history, while Mount Airy’s charm was the basis for television’s Mayberry. Greenville has become known for its bike and skateboard parks, while Wilson is known for its antiquing and Eastern NC barbecue. So get off the interstates and explore all that these great little towns have to offer.

  • Piedmont Triad Area
The rolling northern foothills region of the piedmont offers fabulous scenery and lots to do. Get on the wild side at the North Carolina Zoo in Asheboro or visit the North Carolina Pottery Center in Seagrove, find Mayberry in Mount Airy and enjoy fresh baked breads and cookies in Old Salem.
  • Pinehurst & The Sandhills Region
In the southeastern area of the piedmont, you can golf on the well-manicured and famous golf courses of Pinehurst and explore the area’s rich Scottish heritage and military presence in Fayetteville. Set amid tall pines and soft, rolling hills, you can enjoy shopping, day spas, pottery trails, gardens, historic sites and tours, and exceptional antiquing.
  • Vibrant Piedmont Cities
Giant skyscrapers. Exciting nightlife. Dining diversity. Welcome to North Carolina’s big piedmont cities, where business and pleasure definitely mix. If you’re looking for all the fun and bright lights of a big city, NC has lots of places that are ready to show you their stuff.
